GiGi Dubois Ashworth is the creative force behind Gigi Eats Celebrities.  Ever since she was a young girl, she has always shared with people her comedic nature. She loves making people laugh, so she aspires to showcase her talent on television.  With a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism, she has moved to Los Angeles in order to achieve her dreams.

She also has a Master’s Degree in Nutrition Communications and Science from Tufts University.  She is constantly researching health and wellness information.  Her blog is designed to present health and nutrition in a lighthearted and fun way.  Her goal is to give people ideas on how to live a healthier lifestyle.

1. Have you always liked to cook? What is your philosophy when it comes to cooking and developing recipes?

I have been cooking for a very long time, or at least fascinated by food, all thanks to my father. I recall baking bread and braiding donuts with him at a very young age. Processed foods were not part of my family's diets, it was all whole ingredients made from scratch.  You see, my family is European, and in Europe, food is taken far more seriously than here in the US.

Being raised this way is essentially why I currently adore food, developing recipes and cooking. Sadly, though, I was diagnosed with a whole host of health issues and complications (Celiac, Crohn's, Ulcerative Colitis, and IBS) when I was fourteen, and then I had my large intestine removed when I was 21 years old, thus limited the types of food I could consume.

In all honesty, though, I see it as a blessing in disguise as the foods I cannot eat, are ones that are hotly debated as to whether or not they are indeed healthy and I have done enough research (I have my masters in nutrition as well) to know that added sugars and processed white flour are not healthy.

This all being said, when I develop recipes, I take into account all of my food allergies and intolerances adapt recipes to my dietary needs. They do not lack in flavor, so those who do not have food allergies will enjoy them as well, but they lack the food allergies or the problem foods that could trigger an issue for me, and others who have my issues as well.

2. Name one ingredient that you think people should use more in their cooking.

Avocado Oil! DO NOT FEAR FAT!

3. What is your favorite cuisine? Describe your best dining experience?

Salmon is NOT a specific cuisine but I am utterly OBSESSED with it. I eat it every single day, and usually I eat it at every meal, ha! I am a creature of habit and completely okay with that.

As for my favorite dining experience, I really cannot pinpoint one because I have been blessed with so many! I was invited on a culinary cruise through Greece and Italy last year and I was fed the most delicious food I have ever had in my entire life.

That being said, I was also invited to explore the country of Taiwan and sample their local cuisine which was quite the taste bud experience! I have to say, though, chicken shawarma (aside from salmon and salmon skin) is my favorite dish on the face of the planet. I have even recreated it on my blog because it's just so delicious!

4. What is the story behind the title of your blog "Gigi Eats Celebrities" - especially the "eats celebrities" part? What inspired the name?

When I first started my blog and YouTube channel, I initially poked fun at celebrity diet and fitness trends because they are just plain ridiculous and I was shocked at the multitude of people who actually believed these odd antics.

That being said, I moved to Los Angeles (that is where I live) with the idea of becoming an entertainment reporter, so when I started obtaining such jobs, I realized I shouldn't make fun of the celebrities I would potentially be interviewing.

Thus, I morphed it more into food product spotlights (food celebrities if you will), and then I realized that my food allergies and intolerances are far more common than they once were.  Thus, I started exposing more about my personal life to my viewers/readers and since then my blog has exploded into what it is today!
